Marari, a white sand paradise

Mararikulam, nowadays called as Marari by tourists is a beautiful white sand beach situated between Alleppey and the port city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India.

Climate
Mararikulam has a balanced tropical climate throughout the year. The year round weather of this village is usually temperate and humid since it lies on the coast. It receives two monsoons; south west and north east. June to September and October and November, respectively. It receives an average annual rainfall of 3000 mm and 60% of the annual rainfall is from South West Monsoon. August to November has moderate temperatures and is associated with many celebrations including the Nehru trophy snake boat race in the Alleppey backwaters. Even though March to May is hot, but still it is nice for sightseeing.

Life
Most of them earn their living by fishing. Some traditional industries based on coir and coir products, handicrafts, toddy tapping (Palm wine tapping), etc have been leading the scene from the very early times. Now tourism is a prominent industry here.

When to visit:

The best time to visit is from September to March.

Where to stay?

If you prefer resort type ambiance, the best place to stay is Marari beach resort. However, if you prefer home stays; then there are couple of places  I can recommend.

These homestays are affordable, neater and comfortable. They are just at walkable distance from Marari beach.

Explore Marari this season!
